Permeance, is the action to diffuse through or penetrate an entity. It is a conceptual lens, through which to approach the entanglements of earthly life.

Permeance is an organic process, traceable through molecular exchanges and biological absorptions. Modern membranes rip, decay and rot. The impermeable is porous.

Distinct categories are barely upheld by mental projections. The modern deteriorates into a pile of compost, stimulating exchanges of substances, nutrients and microorganisms.

Permeance encourages participation in symbiotic relationships with Earthly matter. We contaminate through mutualistic encounters, carrying these reciprocal pollutants in our biologies.

We contaminate also through human interactions and relations to the land. Permeance uncovers the tracks of these chain of events by tracing contaminants. We notice the traces through the ruination.

Permeance unsilences, as pollutants can be displaced but not erased, contaminants can be absorbed but do not vanish, chemistries lead back to their geologic origins, revealing stories of colonial violence and extractions.
